Inspiration
I came to America in the 70's and lived in San Francisco Chinatown in a one bedroom apartment with my parent, three brothers and a sister. We managed to live a reasonably comfortable life there even though the apartment was quite small for us. I drove to San Franciso State University to study and came home driving around and around to park my car.
After 8 years of living that, our family decided to buy a house by saving most of our income except for rent, food and a few other necessaries. At that time, Daly City was not a first choice for many because most immigrant parents do not drive. Sunset or Richmond districts were chosen because of MUNI buses.
We decided on Daly City because of the larger homes with 3BR and 2BA on top floor with full basement downstairs. The basement can be turned into family rooms, more bedrooms or bathrooms. We were so happy to move in. For the first time, we were able to spread our wings.
At that time, there was only one real estate agent who could speak our language. Therefore, most of us relied on him to find us our home and negotiate for us. He was such a wonderful agent who went out his way in guiding us every step of the way. He made such an impression on me that when I became a real estate agent, I modeled after him. Even to this day, I am still grateful for what he has done for me. And, I hope to be able to help a few of you as he did for us to repay him.
